MIAMI, FL – At Kendall Regional Medical Center doctors, nurses and staff celebrated with hundreds of family members on Saturday, April 27th as they were reunited at the hospital’s annual Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) reunion.
Many stories and photos were shared on how the babies had grown since they were patients at the hospital’s specialized Level II NICU.
Since the opening of the NICU just over 3 years ago, there have been nearly 600 babies treated in the state-of-the-art unit of the hospital.
“This event also allows us to demonstrate our gratitude to our amazing doctors, nurses and staff that cared for these children when they were first born and needed highly specialized medical treatment. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to see how the children have grown and share stories about their precious milestones of life after their initial medical challenges” said Claudiane Recio, R.N., Director of Women & Children’s Services at Kendall Regional Medical Center.
In July of this year the hospital will open its new 5 bed Level III NICU, which will further enhance the level of care for newborns. This addition to The Women & Children’s Services is another commitment to the community by the hospital, as last July the hospital established pediatric intensive care services, as well as a burn unit for both children & adults.
